The Stabilo P-SS-44 head immobilizing pillow provides safe immobilization of the head and cervical spine when the user is unable to maintain the position independently. It is a medical product that enables the user to maintain the required head position in the event that the head needs to be immobilized (suspected fractures), as well as for specialized examinations such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography (CT) scans.
The P-SS-44 head immobilizing pillow is made of easy to clean and disinfect materials. It has no aluminum components in its design, making it suitable for use during specialist imaging examinations, such as CT or MRI scans. In addition, the ease of hygiene allows the product to be used by many patients in health and rehabilitation centers.
Head immobilizer P-SS-44 consists of several compatible components: a rigid base, an occipital pressure relieving cushion for increased user comfort, 2 side positioning wedges and head stabilization straps with pressure relieving cushions.
The occipital pressure relieving cushion, made of thermoelastic memory foam, perfectly reduces pressure on the occiput and the risk of bedsores and provides the user a high level of using comfort.
Two positioning wedges are made of soft foam, which perfectly relieves the pressure on the user's bony prominences and allows the head to be held in the desired position. The wedges are attached to the base of the stabilizer with Velcro, so they can easily be adjusted and positioned to suit the width and circumference of the head. Such a function is extremely important in cases of head trauma to the craniofacial bones and large post-accident swellings, as well as for follow-up examinations after absorbing exudates.
The stabilizing side wedges have been fitted with foam perforations to maintain auditory and verbal contact with the patient during use of the device.
The stabilizing straps provide additional safety in the use of the product and prevent uncontrolled involuntary flexion movements of the head (e.g. in the case of epileptic attacks).
Furthermore, the stabilizing straps are equipped with cushions to relieve pressure on the bony prominences of the frontal and jaw area. The cushions, made of thermoelastic foam, adapt to the user's anatomy, reducing pressure on the facial bones and increasing the comfort of the product.
The head stabilizing straps provide an adjustable circumferential range and allow the product to be perfectly adapted to the user's needs.
The P-SS-44 professional head immobilizer is available in one universal size, suitable for older children and adults.
